Jacob Connolly, a gem in the East Greenwich community, has taken advantage of all that the district has to offer to him. He is a highly involved student-athlete along with a talented member of the EGHS band. Though he started humble, or in his own words, was “not the most influential”, on the Cole Middle School cross country team, he ran his way to the position of team captain for both junior and senior years.
Other positions he has taken on are Student Council Vice President, working as a NHS tutor, and being an integral member of the school math team. Despite his numerous achievements, he says his proudest moment in the building was watching his fellow peers graduate last year through the hardships of the pandemic. Soon Jacob will be setting off on his own path as well. He has already signed to Boston University, where he plans to continue his fruitful running career. Jacob says the final decision came down to the team and at BU it just felt like a family, one that he wanted to be a part of.
In college he plans to go into the medical field, somewhere where he can be challenged and his day-to-day life will be filled with variety. His advice for some of the younger student athletes is to use the love for your sport to get you through the adversity you may face in academics, as we should all, whether we want to or not, be students first.
