Sami Gangi: Senior Experience

By: Alex Gendron

Today I interviewed Sami Gangji, a senior at East Greenwich High School. I asked Sami about his past experiences at the high school and what his interests are for the future. Being a senior is stressful at times but Sami has expressed that he still enjoys being a senior.

Gangji has many good memories from high school, his favorites being the last days of school. He likes the last day of school because it is a day full of socialization with teachers and other students. As for his favorite part of EGHS, he said,” I really like how much of a community we are and we are all united.” He said that the teachers and staff are very welcoming and are willing to help any student that needs it. The community created by East Greenwich helps old and new students get accustomed to the school and Sami feels it is a valuable part of the school.

One of the aspects that make EGHS stand out is its staff. Gangji said, “I believe that the school is focused on the students and making sure that they give students special attention when needed.” He also talked about how almost all teachers have extra help sessions and they all care that the students perform well.

EGHS also differs from other schools in the opportunities offered by joining after-school activities and clubs. With a large number of clubs, each can fit people’s different interests. Sami’s favorite activities are cross country and track since he likes to run and socialize with other students.

Sami’s weirdest experience at the high school was when he once walked into the wrong class. Instead of leaving and going to his regular class, he stayed in the class longer since he did not realize he was in the wrong place. Eventually, he ended up leaving but at the time it was extremely awkward.

Though he will be missed as EGHS, Sami plans to go to URI in the fall. URI is his main choice because they have a good pharmacy program.

It is safe to say that Sami has enjoyed his time at East Greenwich High School. Though it will be sad to see him go, he and other seniors will be able to enjoy the memories they’ve made.  The high school has a special place in all of their hearts and it will stay with them for a long time.
