No matter what holiday you celebrate, the holiday season is a time of year we can all enjoy: filled with love, family, and celebration. Especially after such a long and stressful year, we all deserve to have a fun and happy holiday season to lift our spirits. While the holidays may look a little different this year than in years past, there are still some great ways to spend your time. Here are five ways to spend this year’s holiday season, while still staying safe!
While this may be one of the more obvious ways to prepare for the holidays, it is also one of the most exciting. Sometimes, all it takes to get into the holiday spirit is to hang up a few pieces of decor on the wall! If you don’t happen to have any leftover decorations from last year, there is no need to worry. Almost any store you walk into from the day after Halloween until Christmas Eve is loaded with all sorts of decorations. Making DIY decorations is also an inexpensive and unique way to decorate your home if you are broke from buying gifts for your friends and family.
#2. Make Hot Cocoa!
After a long day of snowman-building and snowball fights, one of the best ways to warm up is to get cozy with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate. Buy one of the many flavors that your local grocery store offers or try making some homemade. Add whipped cream, marshmallows, or any other topping of your choice to this perfect winter treat! A cup of hot cocoa is guaranteed to warm you up and lift your spirits this holiday season.
#3. Spend Time With Loved Ones!
The recurring theme of the holidays is to spend time with and be thankful for those you love. Let yourself be surrounded by those special people in your life, whether it be family or good friends. Not only will being around these people make you a happier person, but it will also get you in the holiday spirit! However, it is also important now more than ever to stay safe. While it may not be quite the same, make use out of platforms like Zoom and Google Meets to reach out to your family and friends while staying in the safety of your home.
#4. Watch Movies and Listen to Music!
Grab your blankets, popcorn, and someone to cuddle with! Some may argue that the best part of the holidays is being able to wear holiday pajamas and lay around watching holiday movies all day. There are way too many to choose from, so this is one way to spend your time that will never run out. If movies aren’t quite what you are looking for, holiday music is another great way to get you feeling good. Show off your dance moves to the family, and sing along!
Gifting and receiving presents is a huge part of the holidays! Venture out to the store or simply make a Google search and find the perfect gifts for your loved ones. Find a pretty wrapping paper and tie a nice bow on top. Along with each gift, write a lovely card telling your loved one just how special they are to you. Not only will this make their day to hear, but it will also give you a good feeling knowing that you did something kind for another person. It is also fun to get excited about what presents you will be receiving this year!
As this year comes to a close, it’s important to take the time to celebrate love and family. These are what the holiday season embodies. These were just some of the many fun ways you can spend your holiday season this year. Spend this time wisely, it only comes once every year! Enjoy time with your family and make your last memories of this unforgettable year. Most importantly, stay safe!
